What We Stand Behind:

  • Printing, fragrance, or other errors on our end → We'll remake it

What We Can't Accept Returns For:

  • You changed your mind → All sales final (it's custom-made for you!)

When Can I Get a Replacement?

We'll consider a replacement if there's a legitimate quality issue that's our fault:

YES - We'll Make It Right:

  • Print quality is significantly bad (blurry, smudged, way off color)
  • We shipped the wrong product entirely
  • Items arrived damaged or defective
  • Package got lost in shipping
  • Fragrance is defective (smells wrong, contaminated)

NO - These Are Normal or Your Responsibility:

  • You don't like how your design turned out (you approved it!)
  • There's a typo in your text (you wrote it!)
  • You uploaded the wrong photo (check before submitting!)
  • Colors look different than your computer screen (we only print in CMYK and can't guarantee exact color matching)
  • The paper texture feels different (it's designed to absorb fragrance)
  • You changed your mind about the fragrance
  • Minor size variations (within 1-2mm is normal)

One Time Courtesy:

You get ONE courtesy remake per account, ever - for any reason. Use it wisely!

How Do I Request a Replacement?

Can I Cancel My Order?

Here's how it works:

  • If production hasn't started → We can cancel and issue a full refund

Special Note About Rush Orders:

Best Advice:

24-Hour Rush Orders: These orders enter production within minutes of confirmation. It is very unlikely we can cancel 24-hour rush orders because they're prioritized and begin production immediately.

Other Rush Orders: Rush orders are also prioritized and begin production faster than standard orders, making cancellation less likely.

  • Spelling and grammar
  • Correct images uploaded
  • Colors look good

  • Correct quantity and shipping address

Complete Return & Replacement Policy

At Make My Freshener, every item is custom made to order specifically for you. Because of this unique customization, we do not accept returns or offer refunds for reasons unrelated to product quality.

However, we are committed to customer satisfaction. If there is a legitimate issue with your order that is our responsibility, we'll work with you to make it right.

Our Commitment

  • We respond to all inquiries within 1-3 business days
  • We review all replacement requests fairly
  • We stand behind our work
  • We'll remake products with legitimate quality issues

All Sales Are Final:

By placing an order, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Custom-made products cannot be returned for buyer's remorse
  • You are responsible for reviewing and approving your design
  • Minor variations in color, size, and finish are normal
  • Screen previews don't show exactly how the printed product will look

What We Do NOT Accept Returns For

We get it - sometimes you receive your order and it's not quite what you expected. Here's what we cannot offer replacements or refunds for:

1. Design Decisions & Customer Errors

Change of Mind / Buyer's Remorse:

  • You decided you don't like the design after receiving it
  • You want different colors, fonts, or layout
  • You realized you should have ordered something else
  • You no longer need/want the product

Customer Design Errors:

  • Spelling mistakes or typos → You're responsible for proofreading
  • Wrong images uploaded → You accidentally uploaded the wrong photo
  • Wrong text entered → You typed the wrong name/message
  • Poor color choices → You picked colors that don't show up well
  • Wrong design placement → You approved where everything goes

Fragrance Selection:

  • You don't like the fragrance you chose (unless it's defective)
  • It's too strong or too weak for your preference
  • You wish you had picked a different scent

2. Normal Product Characteristics

Color Variations (This is Normal!):

WE DO NOT GUARANTEE EXACT COLOR MATCHING.

We only print in CMYK colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, black).
Here's what this means for your uploaded images:

Our Absorbent Paper Affects Color and Print Quality: Our freshener products are printed on a highly absorbent cardstock paper that is specifically designed to hold scent effectively. Unfortunately, this type of paper does not support the

  • Slightly muted appearance - Colors appear softer and less vibrant than on screens or glossy paper
  • Changes in color - Particularly with darker shades like black, which may appear lighter or less saturated
  • Lower resolution - The absorbent paper cannot produce magazine-quality sharpness
  • Texture visibility - The paper texture may be visible in printed areas

This is inherent to the material we use for fragrance absorption, not a printing defect.

If Your Colors Are NOT CMYK:

  • Most uploaded images use RGB colors (from screens, phones, digital cameras)
  • Pantone colors, HEX codes, and other color systems are also not CMYK
  • We will convert these to CMYK and print in a CMYK color close to the original
  • Exact matching is not possible - different color systems have different color ranges
  • Some bright/vibrant colors(especially neons, bright blues, bright greens) cannot be exactly reproduced in CMYK

Even If Your Colors ARE Already CMYK:

  • We still cannot guarantee exact color matching due to our production process
  • Colors will be the exact CMYK color or close to it
  • We just can't guarantee it due to production variables

Why We Can't Guarantee Exact Colors Even for CMYK:

  • Absorbent paper affects appearance → Our paper is designed to absorb fragrance, which naturally mutes colors and affects how CMYK inks look
  • Paper batch variations → Different paper batches absorb ink slightly differently
  • Fragrance saturation → The fragrance absorbed into the paper affects color appearance
  • Production variables → Temperature, humidity, and ink flow create minor variations
  • Normal CMYK printing variations → All CMYK printing has inherent variation, even on regular paper

What This Means:

  • Colors will print close to your uploaded image, not identical
  • Colors will appear more muted/softer than on glossy paper or screens
  • Darker colors (especially black) may appear lighter than expected
  • RGB/Pantone/other colors will be converted to the closest CMYK equivalent
  • Even CMYK colors may have minor variations from the production process
  • Minor to moderate color variations are normal and expected
  • This is an inherent characteristic of CMYK printing on absorbent paper, NOT a defect
  • Colors may vary between different orders of the same design

This is industry standard for CMYK printing on absorbent paper products and is not grounds for replacement.

Material & Manufacturing:

  • Texture feels different → Our paper is designed to absorb fragrance, so it has a different texture than glossy paper
  • Lower resolution than glossy photos→ The absorbent paper can't produce magazine-quality resolution. This is normal for air fresheners.
  • Slight size variations → Within 1-2mm is normal for die-cutting
  • Minor shape irregularities → Small imperfections in cutting are industry standard
  • Tiny marks or spots → Very minor imperfections that don't affect overall appearance

3. Technical Realities

Image Quality Issues (Your Source Image):

  • Blurry or pixelated due to low-resolution source image you provided
  • Dark subjects that are hard to see(you need well-lit photos)
  • Cell phone photos that don't print well (use digital camera when possible)

Design Limitations:

  • Very thin lines that don't show up (use thicker lines)
  • Very small text that's hard to read (use 12pt+ font)
  • Dark colors on dark backgrounds (poor contrast)

Why These Rules?

We're not trying to be difficult! Here's why:

It's Custom-Made For You:

  • We can't resell your personalized product to someone else
  • We start production immediately
  • Materials and labor are invested right away

You Approved It:

  • You saw the preview before ordering
  • You had the chance to make changes
  • You clicked "Submit Order" confirming it was correct

Some Things Are Normal:

  • Manufacturing variations exist in all printed products
  • Screens always look different than printed materials
  • Absorbent paper behaves differently than glossy paper

Your Responsibility Checklist:

Before submitting your order, please:

  • Proofread all text carefully(names, dates, messages)
  • Verify you uploaded the correct image
  • Check that colors will show upwell (light on dark, dark on light)
  • Use high-quality images (150-300DPI from digital camera)
  • Choose appropriate font sizes(12pt or larger for small text)
  • Review the fragrance description carefully
  • Read your design preview one final time before clicking Submit

Once you submit, you're confirming everything is exactly as you want it!

Our air fresheners use specialized absorbent cardstock paper designed to hold scent effectively. This paper type has different printing characteristics than glossy paper or magazines.

Important:
Our freshener products are printed on a highly absorbent cardstock paper that is specifically designed to hold scent effectively. Unfortunately, this type of paper does not support the same high-resolution printing capabilities as glossy materials, which can sometimes result in a slightly muted appearance or changes in color, particularly with darker shades like black. This is inherent to the material, not a defect.

What We Consider Print Quality Issues:

YES - These Qualify for Replacement:

  • Severely blurry or out-of-focus printing (beyond what's expected for the paper type)
  • Major smudging or ink bleeding (not minor spots)
  • Missing portions of the design
  • Significant misalignment or cutting errors (beyond 1-2mm)
  • Ink pooling or major printing defects

NO - These Don't Qualify:

  • Colors appear muted or softer than screen (absorbent paper naturally mutes colors compared to glossy paper)
  • Darker colors (like black) appear lighter or less saturated (inherent to absorbent paper)
  • Lower resolution than glossy magazines (absorbent paper cannot support magazine-quality resolution)
  • Colors different than screen (we only print in CMYK - screen colors are RGB and will be converted)
  • Colors slightly lighter or darker than expected (normal for absorbent paper)
  • Colors that look different than your uploaded image (we can't guarantee exact color matching even for CMYK colors)
  • Minor to moderate color variations (we only guarantee colors will be the exact CMYK or close to it)
  • Slightly lower resolution than glossy magazines (inherent to material)
  • Minor color variations (normal manufacturing variation)
  • Small areas where texture shows through (normal for absorbent paper)
  • Paper texture visible in printed areas (inherent to absorbent paper)
  • Bright/neon colors that don't look as vibrant (CMYK cannot reproduce all RGB/neon colors)

Important Notes:

If It's Your Source Image: If the issue is due to your source image being low quality, pixelated, or poorly lit:

  • We'll need a higher quality image for any remake
  • We cannot improve a low-quality source image
  • The preview shows what we received from you

What Makes a Good Source Image:

  • High resolution (150-300DPI minimum)
  • From a digital camera(not cell phone if possible)
  • Well-lit with good contrast
  • Not blurry or out of focus
  • Not heavily compressed

How to Request:

  1. Email support@makemyfreshener.com within 7 days
  2. Include clear photos showing the print quality issue
  3. Include your order number
  4. Explain what you believe is wrong

We'll review and let you know within 1-3 business days if it qualifies for remake.

Fragrance Issues

Fragrance preference is subjective - what smells amazing to one person might be too strong for another. Because of this, we handle fragrance issues differently.

Fragrance Concerns We Can Help With:

Defective Fragrance:

  • Fragrance smells wrong/off (spoiled or contaminated)
  • Fragrance is drastically different than description
  • No scent at all or extremely weak (defective)

Subjective Preferences (Can't Replace):

  • "It's too strong for me" (personal preference)
  • "It's too weak for me" (personal preference)
  • "I don't like this scent" (you chose it)
  • "I thought it would smell different" (read descriptions)

If You're Unhappy with Your Fragrance:

Contact support@makemyfreshener.com within 7 days and describe the issue. We may offer:

Option 1: Replacement with different fragrance (one-time courtesy)
Option 2: Partial refund (based on order size)
Option 3: Discount code for future purchase
Option 4: Tips for adjusting intensity (air them out, use fewer at once)

Important Reminders:

  • Fragrance perception is highly personal
  • We cannot guarantee a replacement will suit your preference better
  • Fragrance longevity varies by environment (heat, airflow, humidity)
  • Different fragrances last different amounts of time

Payment Disputes & Chargebacks

We're a small business, and fraudulent chargebacks hurt us significantly. Please read this section carefully.

What Is a Chargeback?

A chargeback is when you dispute a charge with your credit card company, essentially reversing the payment.

When Are Chargebacks Appropriate?

Legitimate Reasons to Chargeback:

  • Your card was stolen and used without authorization
  • You were charged the wrong amount
  • You never received your order AND we're completely unresponsive

Inappropriate Reasons (This Is Fraud):

  • You received your order but don't like it (buyer's remorse)
  • You received your order but claim you didn't
  • You have an issue but never contacted us first
  • You disagree with our return policy decision

Our "Contact Us First" Policy

BEFORE disputing any charge with your bank:

Step 2: Give us 1-3 business days to respond

  • We respond to ALL inquiries
  • We'll work to resolve legitimate issues
  • Most problems can be fixed quickly

  • We'll follow our return/replacement policy
  • If you disagree with our decision, see our Terms & Conditions for dispute resolution

Step 4: Only chargeback as absolute last resort

  • If we're completely unresponsive (we won't be!)
  • If you were actually charged incorrectly
  • If your card was used fraudulently

Consequences of Fraudulent Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback without contacting us first to resolve a legitimate issue:

This constitutes fraud and breach of contract.

What Happens:

  1. Your account is permanently banned - You can never order again
  2. You're still legally liable for the order amount + chargeback fees ($25-$100)
  3. We may report the debt to credit bureaus
  4. We may report you to fraud prevention databases
  5. We reserve the right to pursue legal action for fraud
  6. We may pursue collection action for the debt

Why So Serious?

  • Chargebacks cost us $25-$100 in fees PLUS the product cost
  • Too many chargebacks can shut down our payment processing
  • Fraudulent chargebacks are theft
  • We're a small business - this really hurts us

Fraud Prevention Policy

We love our customers and want to provide the best service possible. However, we must protect our business from abuse.

Why We Need This Policy:

Our "one courtesy remake per lifetime" policy is generous. Unfortunately, some people try to take advantage by:

  • Creating multiple accounts to get multiple free remakes
  • Requesting replacements on every single order
  • Claiming issues that don't exist
  • Using other people's photos as "proof"

Patterns That Raise Red Flags:

  • Multiple replacement requests from different accounts but same address
  • Replacement requests on every order you've ever placed
  • Photos that don't match your order or look manipulated
  • Claims that contradict tracking/delivery confirmation
  • Requesting replacements then selling the "defective" items
  • Creating multiple accounts to bypass the one-remake limit

If We Detect Potential Abuse:

We may:

  • Request additional verification (video, phone call, etc.)
  • Require you to return or destroy items and provide proof
  • Conduct additional investigation before approving
  • Deny the request if patterns indicate fraud
  • Permanently ban accounts engaging in abuse
  • Report fraudulent activity to authorities

For Good-Faith Customers:

If you're being honest, you have nothing to worry about!

These measures only target bad actors. If you have a legitimate issue:

  • Be honest in your description
  • Provide clear photos
  • Be willing to cooperate with any verification
  • Understand that some requests may require more review

We're not trying to be difficult - we're just protecting our business so we can continue serving great customers like you!

Replacement Limits:

One Courtesy Remake Per Account Lifetime:

  • This applies to ALL issues combined
  • Applies to all accounts at the same address
  • Includes print quality, fragrance, design issues, everything
  • Whether the issue is your fault or ours
  • This is our gift to ensure customer satisfaction

After Your One Remake:

  • Future issues will be evaluated more strictly
  • We may offer partial refunds or discounts instead of remakes
  • We reserve the right to deny additional requests

Scope of Replacements:

What's Included in Remakes:

  • Same product type as original order
  • Same quantity as original order
  • Corrected design (if applicable)
  • Standard production timeline (10 business days)

What's NOT Included:

  • Rush production (you pay extra if you need it faster)
  • Expedited shipping (you pay difference if you want it faster)
  • Different products or quantities
  • Upgrades or changes to original order

For Multi-Item Orders:

  • We only replace the specific items with confirmed issues
  • Not the entire order (unless entire order is affected)

Color Variations & CMYK Printing:

Return of Defective Items:

Sometimes we may require:

  • Photos showing items destroyed/cutup
  • Video proof of destruction
  • Return of items for inspection (prepaid label provided)
  • Additional verification

This helps us:

  • Prevent fraud
  • Review the actual issue
  • Improve our quality control
  • Ensure fairness to all customers

Timeline for Remakes:

If Approved:

  • You submit updated design (if needed): 1-3 days
  • Standard production time: 10 business days
  • Shipping time: 5-7 business days (standard) or 2-3 days (expedited)

Total remake timeline: 15-20+ business days

Need it faster?

  • Rush production available (you pay fee)
  • Expedited shipping available (you pay fee)

We won't rush at no charge unless:

  • The issue was entirely our fault (major production error)
  • The mistake significantly impacts you
  • We determine rush is warranted
